在阳光下金黄地闪烁

从路基上倾斜而下

To a little hillside station

6 a4 ^* e# U" \0 F In the sunlight on the right of the road
7 ]3 q( x6 O0 _ K Far off two chasing dogs/ u, r$ T: y5 [) g- v
Swerved down from the roadbed2 {/ y; D/ M: t* z" F
And plunged into exhausted bushes) y% q# D5 k& k& O) d \
The mad lorry
' I+ q' a6 x% g, u Threw us off and vanished quickly
, }0 F6 h f$ s8 _* ]. g; z4 z0 z In a trail of dust1 k+ j( N' ?3 [. S+ P* i
Round the bend of the hill road
0 [& B! \0 B. D+ O0 o' L8 P And all sound stopped0 K$ x( D& S: m. F6 k/ ^
In direct sunlight& H, U2 w7 \( q+ j+ U& }7 F7 n s, a
The lad coming to meet us in railway uniform
( ?' y l/ t0 r1 w' Y Broke off his slow whistling

That we were doomed to be abandoned here
